How to protect the carpet during construction?
Protecting the carpet around your home will vary depending on its location. For example, your carpet on the stairs should be given extra protection. You can do this by using a heavy duty carpet protector, which will help prevent wear and tear on the stairs. If your carpets are in high-traffic areas of your home, such as hallways, consider using Carpet Shield to stop dirt and dust accumulation. Additionally, if you are painting or doing renovations near the carpet, it’s a good idea to use a waterproof tarp or plastic sheeting to catch any paint or debris. Finally, consider using self-adhesive vinyl protectors on your carpets for extra protection from shoes and furniture. When laying a carpet protector, remove any loose fibers and ensure it is firmly attached to the carpet.
How do I install Carpet Shield?
Peel back edge of Carpet Shield and begin to unroll. Press the edge of the carpet protector film down at beginning of area to be covered so Carpet Shield adheres. Continue rolling onto carpet, applying pressure and smoothing down the film while doing so. Carefully cut end with a sharp edge. When finished, fold edge of the film back against the roll to use at a later time. Removal: roll up Carpet Shield and discard.
Can I use Carpet Shield on my wood floor?
No, Carpet Shield was designed exclusively for carpet. We recommend any of our hard surface protection products for hardwood floors.
Handling and storage
Always test Carpet Shield on a small portion of carpet that is in a non-exposed area. 72 hour test required for use over adhesive installations. Recommended for synthetic carpeting only. Apply only to dry carpet, do not use under damp conditions.
How long can Carpet Shield be used to protect carpets?
This product provides carpet protection for up to 30 days. Exceeding this time period for all carpet protection films can result in an adhesive transfer or residue.
